Beskrivelse

The purpose of the games is for children to view mathematics with new eyes – at their own level – through their interests, to become more curious about mathematics – and to improve their mental arithmetic skills. In the games, children create and solve their own equations when they play a card from their hand, and subsequently draw a mathematical card from the deck. The children experience this as a more enjoyable way to engage with mathematics. We have turned things around – we have gone down to a child's level, and have considered what interests the children have. Soccer, animals, and fantasy have turned out to be some of the biggest interests. With this as our starting point, with input from teachers, mathematics advisors, educators, and game designers, we have developed Mathematical Magic Soccer, Mathematical Magic Animals, and Mathematical Magic Fantasy, which aims to give children the belief that mathematics does not have to be so difficult and boring.
